CCA Productions used Visionary Solutions PacketAV Duet Series for reliable, scalable 4K video distribution across NightOwl Entertainment’s new Perth venue.
NightOwl Entertainment Group has brought the Dave & Buster’s brand to Australia with its Clarkson venue in Perth’s northern suburbs. The expansive all-in-one destination combines American-style comfort food and drinks with more than 75 arcade and next-gen games, a massive sports-viewing experience featuring the largest screen in the area, and flexible spaces for family outings, birthdays, corporate events and watch parties.
As the first Australian outpost of the franchise, the venue needed to be loud, fun, energetic and technically robust enough to handle simultaneous video gaming, dining, sports broadcasting and live events without missing a beat. Sean Cornelius, Production Technician for NightOwl Entertainment Group, notes that the owners immersed themselves in the US model through extensive travel before adapting it thoughtfully for the Australian market.
CCA Productions was engaged to deliver the AV system. Aaron Sopolinski, AV Integration Manager at CCA, explains the core architecture: “We’ve gone with a Q-SYS backbone, which is controlling everything.” The Q-SYS platform handles all audio routing, zoning, processing and control logic while integrating seamlessly with Visionary Solutions video distribution.
With dozens of screens, including a substantial “Wow Wall” LED display, reliable, low-latency video routing was non-negotiable. Visionary Solutions PacketAV Duet Series 5 encoders and decoders form the video backbone, distributing 4K60 content, with embedded Dante audio, over the IP network.
Aaron says the Visionary Solutions gear has proven itself on the matrixing, seamless since day one. The modular nature of the system shone in a high-expansion environment: extra decoders were deployed in anticipation of growth, which proved useful when a 2×2 video wall was added shortly after opening.
The overall system prioritises reliability, serviceability and future expansion. Extensive Cat cabling and spare ports position the venue for easy additions without major rework. Two Netgear AV Line managed PoE+ switches keep the network simple and stable.
