Visionary, a leading global innovator in the AV-over-IP industry, has announced a firmware update for its 5 Series PacketAV Matrix endpoints, introducing native AES67 audio support across the entire product line, compatibility with Extreme Networks’ Fabric Attach and additional enhancements to improve performance and flexibility.
Native AES67 Audio Support
The addition of native AES67 audio support is a significant enhancement, enabling seamless integration with a wide range of audio systems that use this industry-standard protocol.
AES67 facilitates high-quality, low-latency audio transmission in networked environments, supporting interoperability between Visionary’s 5 Series endpoints and a broad array of AES67-compliant devices. This enhanced flexibility allows customers to create more adaptable and future-ready AV infrastructures.
Simplified Networking and Lower Latency
Beyond AES67 integration, the firmware removes the requirement for jumbo frames, streamlining network configurations and enabling wider interoperability.
Without the need for jumbo frames, Visionary’s 5 Series endpoints can operate on networks containing devices that do not support them.
The firmware also introduces significant latency improvements. The 5 Series PacketAV Matrix endpoints now achieve sub-frame latency, with as little as approximately 2 milliseconds of delay.
Extreme Networks Fabric Attach Integration
Another highlight is support for Extreme Networks’ Fabric Attach capability, which automates critical aspects of network configuration, including VLAN setup, security policies and quality of service.
This feature reduces the potential for configuration errors, speeds up deployment times and simplifies the management of large-scale AV systems.
