Magewell has launched its first IP-to-12G-SDI decoder. The Pro Convert IP to AIO 4K takes NDI, SRT, and other common streams up to 4Kp60 and outputs them on HDMI 2.0 and 12G-SDI at the same time, from one small box.
Where it fits in
Plenty of systems now move video over the network, but the equipment at the end of the chain often hasn’t followed. Switchers, recorders, and monitors in production spaces still expect SDI. Displays in meeting rooms, lecture theatres, and auditoriums expect HDMI.
This decoder feeds both from the same stream, at the same time. It’s also the first in Magewell’s Pro Convert IP family to output 12G-SDI.
Decoding?
- NDI: High Bandwidth, HX2, and HX3, with NDI 6.3 support
- Streaming protocols: SRT, RIST, RTMP, RTSP, HLS, HTTP, and Zixi, plus MPEG-TS over RTP or UDP
- Codecs: H.264, H.265, SpeedHQ, and MPEG-2, up to 4096 x 2160p60 in single view
Outputs, Multiview, and HDR
- HDMI 2.0: up to 4096 x 2160 at 60fps, in 4:4:4 8-bit or 4:2:2 12-bit
- 12G-SDI: up to 4096 x 2160 at 60fps, 4:2:2 10-bit
- Audio: eight channels on both outputs
- HDR: PQ and HLG
Multiview is the part worth a closer look. Alongside single view, it can show two streams picture-in-picture or four in a quad view, each at up to 1080p60. For a confidence monitor or small control-room display, that may save you from adding a dedicated multiviewer.
Install and control
The unit measures 120 x 79.3 x 24.5 mm and runs from the supplied universal power adapter.
- Setup: web interface, keyboard and mouse, or the on-board controls
- Integration: HTTP APIs for control systems, plus management through Magewell Control Hub or Zixi ZEN Master
- Monitoring: output preview and PTZ control in the web interface
- Captions: CEA-608 and CEA-708 closed captions
A rack version is on the way
For larger installations, Magewell has also announced the Pro Convert IP to AIO 4K Module for its Modator 2U chassis. It offers the same core decoding in a higher-density format and is scheduled to ship in October 2026.
New builds increasingly run on IP, but SDI and HDMI endpoints will remain part of most systems for years. A compact decoder that serves both, with Multiview and HDR built in, removes one of the more awkward problems in a hybrid project.
